10 Tips to Surviving Long Flights

Nick Kundrat | February.20.2020

Today, it’s easier and cheaper than ever to fly anywhere in the world. You can literally hop on a plane and in half a day be on the other side of the planet.

Despite how cool and easy traveling by plane may be, no one can argue that a long flight can also be pretty grueling.

I completed an internship in Sydney, Australia, and it was an amazing experience to say the least. I learned a ton, made professional connections, met life-long friends, and had a blast. The only downfall of traveling from the U.S. to Australia was well… the traveling.

Long flights, layovers, security lines, checking luggage, it can all be a bit overwhelming if you aren’t prepared. Now that I’ve done the 20+ hour trip a few times, I feel like I’ve gotten a grip on how to thrive on these seemingly endless flights.

Here are my top 10 tips for your next trip abroad!

5 Tips on How to Stay Healthy While Traveling Abroad

Nick Kundrat | January.16.2020

20-hour flights, hopping between time zones, and being thrown into foreign cities is enough to fluster even the most seasoned travelers. While traveling and spending time abroad is an absolutely enriching experience, it can take a toll on your health if you aren’t careful.

My name’s Nick -- I’m an exercise science student at Salisbury University and a 2019 Fall Sydney GE Alumni. Growing up and living with Type 1 Diabetes for a majority of my life has been the driving force that has guided me to my purpose, which I truly believe is helping others optimize their health.

I’ve had the chance to work in personal training, strength & conditioning, physical therapy, chiropractic, diabetes education, movement coaching and nutrition and have found value in all of them. I’ve cultivated a drive to learn, educate and empower other individuals regarding their health -- as becoming so health conscious has changed my own life so much, I love sharing it with others.

Through my experiences in the field and time spent abroad, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of living healthy, especially while traveling. So, I wanted to share with you my 5 tips on how to stay healthy while traveling or interning abroad that hopefully you’ll be able to apply to any of your future travel endeavors!

Top 10 Tips For Traveling Solo

Global Experiences | August.22.2019

In London, I hugged my friends goodbye as she headed to the airport. Wandering around trying to figure out where I was going next, I realized I was now entirely on my own in an unfamiliar city.

Here I was, the last of a group of three to still be traveling, but I was so anxious about getting lost or losing my wallet that I struggled to even enjoy it. I had a few weeks until I joined my family in Egypt and hastily made arrangements to travel alone for the first time in London, Barcelona and Athens, where I would then take a short flight to Cairo.

While traveling with my friends, they seemed to know exactly where everything was, always made itineraries that seemed to make the most sense, looked at maps and found the cheapest routes. I still needed to build the confidence and skills they had. So traveling with my friends was a practice run - now was my time to experience traveling solo.

Traveling alone was something I definitely never considered or thought was an option for myself. But by the end of the journey I made on my own, it ended up being one of my favorite travel experiences and I’ve traveled several times alone since.

Here’s what I learned from my solo travels, why I travel alone (and why you should too), and my top 10 tips!
