    About London

London has a unique reputation as a center for global finance, fashion, and media, and the close ties between the United States and the United Kingdom continue to make it a top choice for interns from US colleges and universities. Interns are rarely disappointed by the combination of meaningful and exciting internship experiences and a thriving, multicultural city with easy access to weekends in continental Europe and the Mediterranean. In its seemingly endless neighborhoods and districts, you can walk past iconic buildings, hear hundreds of different languages spoken on the streets, and enjoy authentic cuisine from the far reaches of the globe. Many of our participants are so enamored by London that they return for work or graduate study after program completion.

Since London is a sprawling metropolis, our interns get used to navigating the city using the extensive public transport system. Commutes to work can vary from a 10 minute walk to a one hour tube ride, typical to most Londoners as well. Intern housing is always in student residences located in Zones 1-2, so home is also close to fun for evenings and weekends.

What to expect from the London Internship Program

Nothing looks more professional on a resume than an international internship in London. As a result, it is the most popular city for American college students to travel to for international internships in UK. Every year students and graduates from around the world are competing for the chance to launch their career in this amazing city. Our enrollment process ensures each candidate is carefully reviewed based on a phone consultation and online application form before being accepting for their desired program start date. Everyone is encouraged to join us through our early admission process for all start dates as we fill our spaces well ahead of program deadlines.

Every participant that makes it through the competitive selection process works one-on-one with our experienced advising team as they are guided through our award winning career development and prepare for their interview with a customized internship placement matched to their career goals and personal strengths. Our team of advisors have all traveled and lived abroad and are great mentors through the pre-departure process. Global Experiences assists its participants through the visa process, maintaining close ties with necessary agencies and embassies globally. Our interns from the United States and several other countries are required to travel on the BUNAC Tier 5 visa, while Australia and Canadian Interns travel on a Youth Mobility Working Holiday Visa. Each visa type has its own costs associated.

Once on the ground, interns will join a select program that provides just the right amount of group and individual support through cultural and social programming, networking opportunities, and career development. Our location-based staff live permanently in the city and provide an insider-level connection to the culture, events, what’s hot and what’s not, as well as 24/7 emergency support. During the summer, we have Resident Assistants that join us from our large alumni community and provide mentoring and pastoral care throughout the program.

    James H.
    Sports Business / Maryville University
This overall experience was definitely more than I had expected it to be even though I didn't really have any expectations to begin with. Well, other than just being open to what's in store for me and hopefully by the end of it be more confident and concrete in who I am and what I'm going to be doing. In the past trips I've been in in a decent amount of places and there's always a word that resonates with me. This trip it was: LOVE. That I should do what I love and love what I do. To love the people around me no matter where we come from. That I should learn to love and accept myself and continue to strive to become the person I'm intended to be.
    Chiantelle R.
    Psychology / Trinity Western University
Because I applied having no idea what I would like to do with psychology, this experience has given me a grander vision of my career path and acted as a guide for where I need to go with my future career. It has also given me a sense of independence by living on my own and an intense desire to travel more often and visit more places in Europe.
    Amanda W.
    Psychology / Millersville University
I've definitely realized how capable I am living on my own in a completely new environment. I can successfully make a new life for myself in a place where I don't know anyone.
    Lucia Z.

I am much more laid-back, go with the flow, and fearless when it comes to any endeavor.
    Lauren D.
    Political Scince / Northeastern University
I was able to realize that I am a valuable employee and I am able to adapt well to any situation that might come my way. I am also more cultured because of this experience.
    Nicee G.
Higher Education Administration / University of Rochester
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship in London working in psychology. My experience further enhanced my interests in psychology and education as I was able to strengthen my communication skills and feel as if I was really making a difference in other people's lives. Moving forward, I could not be more excited to teach children and positively impact them as my role models did for me when I was growing up.
    Chrissy L.
    Psychology / Dartmouth College
I had been struggling with what type of career I wanted before applying for an internship, but my internship helped me to understand what I really wanted to do in life: help students through the non-profit or higher education field. I even began applying for jobs halfway through my internship in London because I was felt motivated and encouraged by the GE ground support and my internship supervisors. Also, the work experience I gained in mentorship programs has made me part of a team at work to create a mentorship program.
    Nicee G.
    Education / University of Rochester
Since completing my internship abroad I have graduated from college and started a career in retail. I was able to begin a fast track course in management and I now have a fulfilling career as an executive for Kohl's. During the interview process I could tell the hiring manager was incredibly impressed my experience in fashion abroad. Not everyone is able to have this kind of chance but I highly recommend it because as cliche as it sounds, interning abroad really does set you apart! After graduating it took me less than a year to start the career I aspired to in university and I know my experience abroad had something to do with that!
