As each participant's accommodations varies according to a wealth of variables, please communicate directly with our program coordinators to learn more about the options available to you for this program. Meanwhile, please review our general accommodations policies to better understand how it all works.
Visas
All participants in the internship program will need to obtain a 416 visa (most countries), a Youth from USA visa ( USA applicants traveling for 4 months or less), or a Working Holiday Visa* specially designed for internship participants. These visas are required by the Immigration Department of Australia and, other than the Working Holiday Visa, can only be obtained through Global Experiences. A visa will be issued from your intended date of arrival in Australia and will terminate one week following your internship end date. If you are interested in extending your stay in Australia beyond these dates, please note this on your application, but be aware that you will need to apply for a tourist visa to extend your stay further than one week past your internship end date. The 416 visa cannot be extended once you are in Australia.
Once your internship application has been accepted by Global Experiences, you will be provided with an official visa application and supporting document request that you will need to complete and submit to Global Experiences. The cost of the visa facilitation is included in the program price.
The visa also allows interns to accept paid or stipend work only with the company with which they are placed in Australia. We are not able to find placements based on the need for a paid opportunity; however, in the past, some Global Experiences interns who have been in a placement for 3 months or more have received some type of financial compensation. These arrangements are the sole responsibility of the intern and the host company or organization.
* Working Holiday Visas are available to citizens of: United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China, Finland, the Republic of Cyprus, France, and Italy, Belgium, Estonia and Taiwan.
