Below you will find more specific information regarding program dates, fees, accommodation and what to expect as it relates directly to our Rome programs. Please be sure to email us should you have any questions.

Italian Language Training

Each program participant will receive full time intensive Italian language training in a group environment at our language school in Rome. This fully accredited course is provided by one of the most respected Italian Language training institutions in Italy and is authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education to teach Italian language and culture to foreign students. Participants will attend a total of 80 lessons per month, each lesson lasting 60 minutes (you will have 4 lessons daily). Also included are 8 individual lessons during the first month and 4 individual lessons during the second month of language lessons (if applicable). Internship Placement

We will work with you to find the best available placement in the internship area you request. Final placements will be determined once you have arrived in Rome and have interviewed with the company.

Skills Required: A self-starter, organizational, mature, confident, independent, willing to learn, attention to detail, communications skills, basic computer skills a plus, and a passion for foreign culture.

Accommodation

Accommodation in Rome is in a single room in a modified home-stay with the landlord (usually a couple or older woman) for no extra price; or in a single room in a shared apartment with Roman students and/or young Italian professionals (100 euro extra per month; please allow at least 90 days prior to your start date). Apartments have a kitchen and bathroom and all household amenities are provided for you. You only need to bring a towel and personal items. 8 WEEK PROGRAM (2 months)

Lessons/Week:

Language study: 4 weeks of intensive, group Italian language lessons (80 lessons per month), plus 2 individual lessons per week.

Internship: 4 week internship: Most placements are from 9AM-6PM, Monday-Friday (with 1 hour for lunch), totaling 160 intern hours (This is a general rule for working hours and is subject to change depending on several factors which may include the company you work for, the season of the industry in which you are interning, and the projects that the company may have underway during your time with them).

Language Req'd:

It is essential that you arrive in Italy with a minimum basic understanding of Italian so we strongly urge you to begin studying basic Italian prior to your arrival in Italy.

12 WEEK PROGRAM (3 months) (Semester Program - Best Value)

Lessons/Week:

This Program gives you the option to take 4 weeks of language training and do an 8 week internship, or take 8 weeks of language training and do a 4 week internship.

Language study: 4 or 8 weeks of intensive, group Italian language lessons (80 lessons per month). Participants will also have 2 individual lessons during the first month of language training and if enrolled in 8 weeks of language training, 1 individual lesson during the second month of language training.

Internship: 4 or 8 week Internship: Most placements are from 9AM-6PM, Monday-Friday (with 1 Hour for lunch), totaling 160 – 320 intern hours depending on your program selection (This is a general rule for working hours and is subject to change depending on several factors which may include the company you work for, the season of the industry in which you are interning, and the projects that the company may have underway during your time with them).

Language Req'd:

None for two months language, one month internship. For 1 month language two months internship, it is essential that you arrive in Italy with a minimum basic understanding of Italian so we strongly urge you to begin studying basic Italian prior to your arrival in Italy.

16 WEEK PROGRAM (4 months)

Lessons/Week:

Language Study: 8 weeks of full immersion, group Italian language lessons (80 lessons per month), plus 2 individual lessons per week during the first month and 1 individual lesson per week during the second month of language training.

Internship: 8 week internship: Most placements are from 9AM-6PM, Monday-Friday (with 1 hour for lunch), totaling 320 intern hours (This is a general rule for working hours and is subject to change depending on several factors which may include the company you work for, the season of the industry in which you are interning, and the projects that the company may have underway during your time with them).

Language Req'd:

Basic knowledge of Italian or other foreign language helpful, but not required.

Visa Required:

* US Citizens (among others) require a Study Visa for programs longer than 90 days. In order to leave enough time for processing the visa, we have a 90 day deadline on the longer programs. If you hold an EU passport and do not require a Visa for the program, you can apply for a 4 or 6 month program 60 days in advance. Contact us if you have questions as to your status or for other nationalities.

20 WEEK PROGRAM (5 months)

Lessons/Week:

Language Study: 8 weeks of full immersion, group Italian language lessons (80 lessons per month/60 minutes each), plus 2 individual lessons per week during the first month and 1 individual lesson per week during the second month of language training.

Internship: 12 week internship: Most placements are from 9AM-6PM, Monday-Friday (with 1 hour for lunch), totaling 480 intern hours. (This is a general rule for working hours and is subject to change depending on several factors which may include the company you work for, the season of the industry in which you are interning, and the projects that the company may have underway during your time with them).

Language Req'd:

Basic knowledge of Italian or other foreign language helpful, but not required.

Visa Required:

* US Citizens (among others) require a Study Visa for programs longer than 90 days. In order to leave enough time for processing the visa, we have a 90 day deadline on the longer programs. 24 WEEK PROGRAM (6 months)

Lessons/Week:

This program is ideal for beginners who want to be proficient in the Italian language and gain practical international work experience in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Language Study:
12 weeks of full immersion, group Italian language lessons (80 lessons per month/60 minutes each), plus 2 individual lessons per week during the first month and 1 individual lesson per week during the second month of language training.

Internship: 12 week internship: Most placements are from 9AM-6PM, Monday-Friday (with 1 hour for lunch), totaling 480 intern hours (This is a general rule for working hours and is subject to change depending on several factors which may include the company you work for, the season of the industry in which you are interning, and the projects that the company may have underway during your time with them).

Language Req'd:

Note: In addition to intensive Italian language training, customized internship, and the other services noted on this page, these programs offer a variety of monthly social activities including Italian films, cultural lectures and for an additional cost, excursions in and outside of Rome. There is Free Internet Access at the language school. Of course it is Rome, the best highlight of all!

* Due to company schedules in Italy, there will be an extra week added to this program (making it a 13 week program) as well as an extra week's accommodation fees. Please inquire with our program coordinator for more information

  • Program dates subject to change based on school breaks and company schedules. Definite program dates will be confirmed upon acceptance into the program.
  • Extra accommodation fees will apply for programs falling over holiday weeks since you will have to stay longer than the normal time frame in order to make up the weeks missed.
  • No internship placements are available during the month of August.
  • Christmas break at the language school is 20 December 2008 to 4 January 2009.
