Accommodation

Accommodation for our Dublin program is provided in a homestay with an Irish family. Homestays provide a great way to immerse oneself in the Irish culture and experience what it really means to live and work in a foreign country. Interns often form lasting friendships with their new “families” while abroad. Further, our homestay arrangements allow our participants to focus on their internships instead of worrying about grocery shopping or paying utility bills and security deposits.

Included in the price is a single room accommodation, weekly laundry, breakfast & evening meals daily, electric/gas utilities, and hot water. The use of the telephone and internet access are at the discretion of each host family. There are many internet shops available in Dublin if your family does not permit use of the phone or internet. Most interns must share a bathroom with their host families.

We do our best to place our interns as close to their host company as possible, typically near public transportation. In some cases, however, it is not possible to place interns close to the host company. Travel times of 20 minutes to 1 hour should be expected. All interns are provided with a 24-hour emergency contact number.

Program Benefits

  • You will always have an immediate supervisor at the company who will be responsible for your training.
  • Continual point of contact on the ground in Dublin with our affiliate.
  • Enhance your résumé with practical work experience abroad and earn a formal letter of reference from the company for which you work.
  • Create an immediate advantage for yourself in the job market upon completion of your internship.
  • Establish professional and personal contacts in a foreign location.
  • University Credit may be available.

How We Choose Your Internship Placement

Global Experiences uses a carefully chosen placement agency in Dublin that works with us to provide international work experience for English-speaking young professionals. Once you complete an enrollment form, the field(s) in which you wish to complete the internship will be confirmed, and we will begin to contact relevant placement companies.

Global Experiences and its partners will make every effort to provide the highest quality placements given an applicant's experience and expectations. It is important to note that you should have some experience, either academic or professional, in the placement area for which you are applying. If you are not sure whether you have the minimum experience expected, be sure to inquire with our Program Consultants.

Telephone interviews are occasionally requested by some firms involved in finance, accounting and communications in order to confirm the intern’s suitability to the position.

Internship placement without accommodation, part time placements and varied internship lengths may be available so please inquire with a program coordinator.

Please note: Allow 12 weeks prior to start date for application processing and internship placement. In some cases, the process may take longer than in other fields. So please plan accordingly when applying. As soon as we confirm the internship with the company, we send you a confirmation form with all the company details, contact person, your immediate supervisor, company profile, and internship description. At this time, full payment will be due.

Students will need to have an acceptable level of English to apply.

Visas

Citizens of the United States, the EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand do not need a visa to enter Ireland and take part in internship programs up to 12 weeks in length. For those seeking programs longer than 12 weeks and up to 6 months you must be from an EU country or be eligible for a Working Holiday Visa. At this time there is no Working Holiday Visa arrangement for citizens of the United States wishing to travel to Ireland. If you are not from any of these countries and are interested in the Ireland internship program please inquire with us for further information.

University Credit

Global Experiences participants can receive independent study course credit through our university affiliate, Eastern Washington University (EWU). These courses are designed to allow for independent study and require you to delve deeper into your international experience through a series of written observations and academic journals during your time abroad. Upon completion, credits may then be transferred to your university or college.

To learn more about this opportunity through EWU or how else you may be able to receive university credit for your Global Experience, please see our University Credit page.

Please note, depending on your program location, you may be required to pay an additional transcript fee. This nominal fee covers the extra program monitoring and official transcript preparation required for presentation to your university faculty advisor.
