Our comprehensive internship program in Barcelona provides much more than just your customized guaranteed internship. We focus heavily on matching you with the best employer so you have a great practical work experience but we also include a range of other program components to make sure you have an excellent overall experience.
Guranteed Custom Internship Placement
Global Experiences guarantees placements to all participants accepted into its internship programs. Unlike traditional recruitment companies, we work with each applicant on a one-to-one basis to understand their expectations and match them with the best employer in their prospective career field. By getting to know each individual applicant, learning their academic background, career objectives, language proficiency (where relevant) and overall expectations for their experience abroad, we are able to place each individual in a work environment that will help them gain valuable work experience abroad. We help each prospective intern create an effective resume, professionally prepare for an interview with potential employers, and psychologically prepare for their experience living and working abroad.
Intensive Spanish Language Training
Your program will begin with full time intensive Spanish language training in a group environment. Each program participant will receive 20 sessions per week of intensive Spanish language training during the first part of the program, in a group setting at our accredited language school in Barcelona. Language length depends on each program type. Program participants will take part in full immersion style studying in which classes are taught only in Spanish.
Our language partner is located in a modern, fully equipped building in the heart of Barcelona. Interns will be within easy access to public transportation and world-class attractions. Please inquire with our staff about gaining university credit for language training, the internship, or both. All participants will be issued with an official certificate of completion of their Spanish classes to be used when applying for credit with your home university.
Housing
The program includes furnished student accommodation for the duration of your program. You will live in a shared room in a shared setting with other students in the city center. Global Experiences interns live in central Barcelona and have easy access to public transportation. Barcelona is a great 'walking city' and you will be in the heart of it all!
Excursions and Social Events
Global Experiences wants you to work hard and also play hard with our excursion and activities calendar designed for you to maximize your time abroad. You can travel independently or with fellow interns, using Global Experiences travel resources to compliment your social calendar. Consult one of our program coordinators to learn what is included in your program of interest (it depends on the time of year). All programs include a variety of social opportunities to make the most of your time in Barcelona.

This events organization specializes in corporate events, social events, festivals and excursions. They even have an "extreme" division which includes sky diving events and whitewater rafting. As an intern, you will get to assist with researching, planning and proposing events to their clientele. Once the client decides on a location/event, the selected student will then work to put on the event. REQUIREMENTS: Rising Sophomore, 2.8 GPA. Applicants should have event management/ planning coursework and/or experience with hospitality, concert production, etc. An outgoing, get it done attitude is also needed. The role is for a native English speaker, so no Spanish is necessary.

Participants for the Barcelona internship program are required to be 19-30 years of age, have some Spanish language experience, and some relevant coursework in their preferred internship career field. US applicants must also be a current university student or a very recent graduate to secure the required visa.

Our Placement Process
We excel at matching each intern with the best employer by learning about YOU and YOUR expectations of your experience abroad. There is not another group or company that does this as well as Global Experiences.
All placements are fully customized to each participant based on individual career goals. Programs are typically 10 or 14 weeks in length, with some longer programs available upon request. Acceptance is competitive and based on your Spanish language proficiency and relevant work experience.
Since we guarantee our internships, we will not accept you into our program unless we are confident we can find a suitable placement for you.
Once you are accepted into the program and pay your program deposit we will immediately begin formalizing your internship placement. We will work with you to create an effective resume, prepare for an interview (required for many placements), and organize the documentation required to secure your visa. All participants will have access to a portal of pre-departure information that will help prepare you for your Global Experience.
Summary of Placement Process

- Receive acceptance into the program
- Pay $1000 deposit to reserve your place in the program

- Arrive in Barcelona to start your program

Global Experiences interns live within walking distance to the language school, and have easy access to public transportation. Barcelona is a great 'walking city' and you will be in the heart of it all!
Academic Credit
Yes, you can earn academic credit for this program. There are two ways to obtain credit for a Global Experiences program; transfer credit from our foreign institutional partners or earn independent study credit from our US-based affiliate university, Eastern Washington University. One may also combine foreign transfer credit with independent study credit. The best credit option will be determined by your home university and academic advisor.
