Resident Assistant

Alumni Resident Advisor Position:

The Alumni Resident Advisor (RA) position is available this summer in (almost) all of our locations around the world. This is a chance for you to participate in another full-time internship program at a discounted price and have a leadership role as a mentor for first-time GE interns.

Role requirements:

  • Report directly to your on-site Location Coordinator
  • Be knowledgeable about and follow the GE policies and procedures
  • Attend and present on your previous GE internship program during the Welcome Orientation
  • Attend all social events, day trips, and meet-ups, and encourage personal, professional, and cultural development of all program participants
  • Attend the mandatory Exit Orientation
  • Report any issues or concerns among the group to the on-site Location Coordinator
  • Respect and treat all individuals fairly and equitably by being open and understanding regardless
  • Serve as a role model for the GE core values through daily interaction with interns and staff
  • In this position, you will receive all the standard inclusions and benefits of the program including a full-time internship placement in your field(s), housing, visa support (if applicable), social events, and professional development at a reduced cost (see chart below)

Alumni Assistant Position:

The Alumni Assistant position is only available this summer in selected locations: London, Dublin, Milan, Barcelona, and Sydney. This is a chance for you to participate in another full-time internship program at a discounted price, have a leadership role as a mentor for first-time GE interns, and have the opportunity to earn money during your program!

Role requirements (approximately ten hours a week):

  • Report directly to your on-site Location Coordinator
  • Be knowledgeable about and follow the GE policies and procedures
  • Arrive three days in advance of the program start date to prepare for check-in and orientation
  • Attend and present on your previous GE internship program during the Welcome Orientation
  • Attend all social events, day trips, and meet-ups, and encourage personal, professional, and cultural development of all program participants
  • Assist the Location Coordinator with event planning/arrangements, coordinating internship site visits, data entry, or other tasks as assigned
  • Respond to inquiries regarding housing, social activities, and general program questions. You must be available by phone, email, and Facebook to interns and staff
  • Coordinate RSVPs for social events and keep an up-to-date headcount before and during events
  • Take photos/videos at orientations, social events, and other planned activities
  • Upload photos/videos to our server and post to social media
  • Post to the GE social media pages a minimum three times per week. This may include tagging photos from social events, posting links to places to go or things to do in the city, funny things or interesting trivia about the city or current events.
  • Write at least one blog post on an assigned topic
  • Respond to student behavior that is inappropriate and/or in violation of GE, housing, or local law policies and procedures. This involves confronting the situation when and where applicable, documenting any incidents, and communicating with appropriate parties to assist in a resolution
  • If applicable: hold “office hours” at the residence or other local spot for one-two hours per week where interns may approach you with concerns, or for advice
  • Attend the mandatory Exit Orientation
  • Track hours and submit timesheets to your Location Coordinator for approval and payment
  • Respect and treat all individuals fairly and equitably by being open and understanding regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, or cultural and ethnic diversity issues
  • Respect the confidential nature of intern, staff, employer, and partner information and communication
  • Serve as a role model for the GE core values through daily interaction with interns and staff
  • In this position, you will receive all the standard inclusions and benefits of the program including a full-time internship placement in your field(s), housing, visa support (if applicable), social events, and professional development at a reduced cost (see chart below). PLUS, you will be compensated $10 USD/hour
