Program Benefits

Why Study Abroad

There are so many reasons to study, work, live and travel abroad. Through feedback from past program participants, anecdotes from our staff, and general information collected from various other sources, we have created this page to justify our claims that EVERYONE should seek out their own Global Experiences.

Global Experiences firmly believes that any experience abroad, whether as a professional, a tourist, an academic, or otherwise can be personally enriching and rewarding. We simply take that to another level by affording invaluable practical work experience at the same time. Each of our staff members has had global experiences (sorry, couldnŐt help it!) that have changed each of their lives in different ways, which help prepare your child more effectively for what to expect from their time overseas. Our team is focused on devoting attention to the needs of each individual program participant to ensure the most rewarding and inspirational international experience, helping them Get an edge in life!

Personal Enrichment

We often hear comments like, "I learned more about the world and myself in 5 years of traveling than I did in over 20 years of formal schooling" and "I have a much clearer vision for my future now that I have traveled and gained a new perspective on life".

From parents we often hear, "I wish I would have done that when I was younger" and "Those opportunities weren't available to me growing up".

Global Experiences firmly believes that any experience abroad, whether as a professional, a tourist, an academic, or otherwise can as, if not more, personally enriching and rewarding than any other experience in one's life. Each of our staff members have had such experiences that has changed each of their lives in different ways.

For some those experiences led to career changes or new opportunities while others established unique and lasting friendships around the world. Some decided to pursue a graduate degree upon returning from abroad and others still have yet to return. Though the personal impact of living and working abroad varies for each individual, one thread of uniformity binds us all together, a greater perspective of the world around us and, of course, of ourselves as a result.

Here some reasons in a few words or less why one should travel, work, live and/or study abroad:

  • Challenge yourself
  • Learn a foreign language
  • Gain appreciation for a new and different culture
  • Gain appreciation for your own culture
  • Establish new lifelong friendships
  • See, feel, touch, smell, and taste what the world has to offer
  • Because you'll never forgive yourself if you don't, just ask your parents

Professional Development

Most of our programs are devised to not only provide some of the most unique and rewarding personal experiences in the world, but also to provide opportunity for professional development through practical work experiences, internships, teaching English as a second language, volunteer programs, and more.

It is no secret that the work force, much like college admissions, is becoming more and more competitive. In many instances, a Bachelor's Degree is not enough to secure that 'dream job', or any job for that matter (we Liberal Arts majors can certainly relate). It is essential to differentiate oneself from the rest of the pack by some means that will grab the attention of prospective employers.

Completing an internship is certainly one way of differentiating yourself, but an internship abroad takes that a step further by proving your adaptability to live and work in a foreign environment while demonstrating your eagerness to truly set yourself at the head of the pack. Simply living and working in a foreign environment speaks volumes of your character and ambition and we offer many opportunities for such Global Experiences, including:

  • International Internships in all professional areas
  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) around the world
  • Volunteer Programs working with typically developing nations
  • High School and Gap Year specific programs
  • Adventure travel programs to add a little spice to the tourist experience
  • Summer Programs for those who only have a short time to spend abroad
  • Personal advice and counseling on Choosing a Program
  • Opportunities to develop one's character, enhance one's resume, and make invaluable personal and professional contacts around the globe
