Felic Diada de Sant Jordi or Happy Day of St. Jordi!  Today, April 23^rd, is Barcelona's most romantic day of the year where people all over the city celebrate Catalonia’s patron saint St. Jordi  (St. George in Catalan).  Of course, it’s not just Barcelona that celebrates the festival of St. George. He is the patron saint of England, Georgia, Romania, Greece, and several other places. However, Barcelona celebrates the day with a unique flair of culture, love, roses, and books.

Kayla is currently interning for Global Experiences in the main office to help her prepare for an internship in Dublin, Ireland. Kayla is attends Anne Arundel Community College and is interested in marketing and event planning. 

Every summer, Washington D.C. becomes the mecca for internships for those interested in politics, law, and non-profits. It is one of the most powerful cities in the world and is full of opportunities for those who can take the heat and are eager to learn.

1. Gain more professional experience while traveling

The reason why I want to have an internship abroad is to gain more professional experience, while being able to travel at the same time. I am currently about to finish my two year degree and plan to transfer to a university next fall. I felt that having an internship this summer would allow me to gain more experience in the field I am most interested in, which is Event Planning. So, by next fall I will have a better understanding of which path I want to head towards. I’ve always wanted to travel and knew that one day I would be able to. Before I knew about interning abroad, I was planning to study abroad for a semester. However, after I learned more about Global Experiences and the different programs they offer, I have decided that interning abroad would be a more beneficial experience for me. Having an internship abroad will allow me to develop more professional skills in a work environment that is different from what I am used to, while being able to experience the country and its culture.

One of the most exciting parts about traveling is meeting new people, tasting unique foods, testing out language skills, and learning about the history and culture of a place.

We love the Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment. We’ve mentioned it in a few posts, we provide  it to all of our participants, and we even divided them into the Divergent factions. You know that we love the assessment, but we haven’t told you why we think it’s important for people to be aware of their natural talents.

Let’s be honest, creating a resume is a daunting task. It seems that everyone you speak to has a different opinion about formatting and what should be included in your resumé.  Your resumé is a reflection of you, so it’s okay if it doesn’t exactly fit into every mold, but your document still needs to look clean and professional. Below are six easy rules to follow when crafting your professional resume:

I’ll be the first to admit this to you: I’m a huge nerd. I fell in love with Divergent three years ago and had been slightly obsessed with it until I finished the final installment earlier this year. After seeing the movie last weekend, I was tossed back into the thoughts of what faction would I choose (because I’d be divergent, obviously) which led me to thinking about the Clifton Strengths that we provide all of our participants. What if we divided the Strengths into the Divergent factions?
