To start, yesterday we all went to this little restaurant that was really cute. I ordered a pesto pizza with, mozeralla cheese, and tomato. It was sooooo good. Had some wine on the side, and for dessert creme brulee with carmello on it. We had a nice long dinner — chats about our homel lives, movies, Italian language, and all sorts of things.
Day 4
I woke up around 8am again, and hurried off to school. I didn’t stop for breakfast on the way because I am trying to save my money as much as I can. My friend here says she is going to stay in to for two meals and only go out for one. I think that’s a great idea because groceries are not too badly priced here. I arrived at the school, grabbed a (carbonated) water from the vending machine plus a chocolate criossant, which was pretty good. In class we went over some short homework we did and continued our lessons. We learned the present tense, which is pretty easy. For our break I went to a little cafe for a pastry. I had a cheese danish thing (even though I don’t know the name it was really, really good). Got back to class and went over a few more things then went on a field trip!

We went to the market where, in pairs, we had to talk to merchants and ask certain questions, and also find things in the market (like find fruits and list the ones we saw). My partner and I met up with our teacher at one point and she showed us a certian stand that had meats and bread. The merchant gave us free samples, again so good. We got to walk around a bit on our own and went to another stand that was giving out free samples of cheese, and meat.
OMG, it was heaven. Everything was so good. Once our time was done there, we headed back to the school and ended our lessons for the day. I decided to go back to the market and pick up a few things for the apartment since I have no food: some dried fruit, pasta, apples, clementines, jam, and bread. I stopped at one stand and got talking with the girl who was running it. She is from Brazil, but lived in New Jersey for a bit. She told me she has been here for a year now. She came here to study Italian but just fell in love with the place, she decided to stay. She was super nice, and gave plenty of advice: to just talk to everyone, speak as much Italian as you can, and go see everything. We said our goodbyes, but not before she gave me a coupon for my next visit
. I got home, unloaded my groceries, and took like a 3 hour nap. I was so tired for some reason. I woke up around 6pm, and got ready for another aperitivo. We all ordered a (free) drink, then got up and got our food. It was actually a nice selection and quite delicious. My favorite thing was the fruit salad of course. It’s my favorite thing at most holiday meals. There was a screen up with fashion shows going on, so we discussed fashion and what we like and don’t like. Then there was a decision that everyone was going to go to this night club called Twice. We walked there, which was nice that it was right near where I live. When we got in, NO ONE was there, but the dance floor didn’t open till midnight. By the time the dance floor opened it was packed. Since there was around 15 of us, we kept getting yelled at for leaving our coats laying around. No one wanted to pay for a coat check. Also, I don’t think I have ever been to a club with some many cute guys by themsleves. There were some creeps, but that is to be expected. We left “early” since we had class in the morning.
Day 5
I decided to get a chocolate coffee (which was actually soooo good) and some danish thing again from the vending machine. Sat in class, which I thought I was going to fall asleep during :/ but of course the teacher was so peppy it was hard to fall asleep. I think I am understanding the language pretty well so far, which I am surprised because I am really, really, REALLY bad at languages. I took years and years of Spanish classes and I am still horrible. I really have to say it is probably because of the teacher. She’s just amazing and really willing to help anyone (stays after class, gives more sheets to practice on, and is also very patient). We went over few more things, then took our break. I decided to stay in the class because… there was no way I would make it back up the stairs. These stairs are just so intense. By the 3rd floor my legs are burning. We came back to class and finished with a recording and had to listen and find certain sentences in it. I actually could here the sentences! I am surprised because the worst thing I am at is listening to languages and being able to understand it. We left class and decided to go to the grocery store. I bought so much food! Three bags full and it only cost 51 euros (cheese, meat, milk, fruit and veggies). We left the grocery store and went to this vintage store that was so cool! It seems like all these random clothes from the USA, for example old pumas, adidas, leather jackets, everything. I will have to go back there. Unfortunately, when I was leaving I noticed that my grocery bag was really starting to rip. I decided to just got home before my food fell all over the ground. My friend walked with me home since she lives right near me. For some reason, I must have been distracted from rushing to get home and the pain from the heavy bag draped over my shoulder, I made us take the wrong way home (much longer way). Even though it took a much longer time home, we found ourselves in some pretty cool places. If I wasn’t carrying heavy bags I would have stayed and looked around more. I got home and unpacked, and made a hot dog! It actually wasn’t too good… I am not sure if it really was a hot dog to be honest. I was going to go around walking before dinner to tonight, but I found I had so many things to do here before dinner. We are all having a early dinner because we are going to wake up early to go to Sienna tomorrow!
