I participated in Global Experiences International Internship program in June 2011. It was the best work experience I have had. As a potential MBA student, the internship boosted my confidence and allowed me to learn not only marketing, which will be my major but also to learn working in a different culture. My internship really helped me to get out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed working and living in Sydney so much that I am planning to return here to work for few years after my MBA. I had a great networking opportunity though my internship, which will no doubt help me with my future career. The experience and skills that I developed during my work experience in Sydney was second to none.
However, it was not all about work. I made a lot of friends here from the program and from work too. I saw the city and mixed with people, went to different famous places of Australia and had a really fun time.
During my placement, I wrote articles advising clients how to market their businesses profitably. I had to work with a diverse range of clients from a criminal lawyer to airline companies, from an Australian apprenticeships company to an international online dating agency. This gave a great opportunity to brainstorm and learn about different businesses. I created videos and wrote articles and blogs in order to increase clients’ website ratings. I managed clients’ website content to increase visits and to be in top 5 of the search engine results. I thoroughly enjoyed my work.

The internship was extremely rewarding. It gave me the opportunity to experience working in a new culture and social and professional outlook. I also benefited from my fellow interns’ experience and learned from their cultures. Living in a different country for a number of months can be nerve-racking. However, GE arranged the accommodation, which has gym and a swimming pool, and the local representative in Sydney was ever so helpful. I could not ask for more. I would recommend students to consider working abroad to broaden their horizon.
