I can’t believe I just have a few days left in Sydney. The past couple of weeks have been amazing. About 3 weeks ago, my mother and sister got here and they came with our group on the trip to the Blue Mountains. Our first stop was in Featherdale which is a wildlife park. It was so amazing! We got to feed kangaroos and pet the koalas. I loved it. Unfortunately, the rest of the Blue Mountains trip was ruined because it was too foggy to see a thing. About half a week after that, my father and brother joined us in Sydney. That same day we flew to Cairns and then stayed in Port Douglas. We went snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. Luckily, on our way back from the tour we saw about 5 or 6 whales, two of which swam right up to our boat. It was like we got whale watching included in our tour and it was a really amazing day. We also did a half day tour into the Daintree forest and we saw some amazing waterfalls and crocodiles. We spent our other day just laying out by the pool and beach and luckily my father and I managed to get a run in on the beach (one of the most beautiful runs of my life).
I returned yesterday from Melbourne with some friends from the program. We got wonderful weather all weekend and I really loved the city. We did an all day Great Ocean Road tour which was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who visits Melbourne. I saw some of the most amazing sea stacks (the 12 apostles and London Bridge is falling down) and wild koalas! I’m now back in Sydney and have four days of work left and then back to the states. I’ve enjoyed my time here in Australia but I am very excited to return to the States this weekend.
