The first week in Sydney proved to be quite challenging as I adjusted to the time change and adjusted to working 9-5. The group bonded quickly though, and our weekends were filled with fun social gatherings including the zoo, Sydney’s beaches, and Sydney’s night life. The weather was right under 70 four our second and third weekend allowing for gorgeous trips to Bondi beach to watch some surfers and hang out with the group in Hunter Valley for wine tastings and a glimpse of some wild kangaroos.

Once I had adjusted to the working hours, I found it very enjoyable. I have mostly been doing commercial due diligence for the firm I work with. I’ve been researching companies and sectors of the market they are interested in investing in and turning in summaries for them to look at. I do not have any accounting experience and when it comes to balance sheets and income statements, the two analyst I work with have been very helpful. They are always asking me if there is anything else I want to be involved in and they include me in their meetings to allow me to get a feel for how the deals they do begin, progress, and end. It is a small firm but everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming.

As for the four weeks to come– My mother and sister get in on Thursday and we are joining the group in the Blue Mountains on Sunday. Then next Wednesday my father and brother get in and we are all going to the Great Barrier Reef until Saturday night. The weekend after that my roommate and I are travelling to Melbourne. I have a very exciting next few weeks and will be posting lots of pictures!
