Please be sure to read Global Experiences' general accommodations policies and review our Terms & Conditions to fully understand how the accommodations component of our programs work and to know what to expect in terms of housing.

All Italian cities are old and beautiful with many different characteristics. They have maintained their antiquity through the preservation of their authentic art and architecture, while accommodating their residential populations and the thousands of tourists who visit these cities every year, particularly in the summer months.

For its various programs offered in Italy, Global Experiences, through its partner organizations, provides accommodations for participants in each city. All accommodations are different in many ways and due to the limited number of spaces and a growing demand from our students, we are not able to take special requests for location, amenities or otherwise. Accommodations are of a minimum standard and you will be placed according to the best available option in the best available location according to your program.

Florence & Milan: Accommodation in Florence and Milan is in a single room in a shared apartment with other students from the language school. Apartments have a kitchen and bathroom; all household amenities are provided for you. All you need to bring is a towel. Accommodation is located within walking distance or a short bus ride from the school.

Rome: Accommodation in Rome is in a single room in a modified home-stay with the landlord (usually a couple or older woman) for no extra price; or in a single room in a shared apartment with Roman students and/or young Italian professionals (100 euro extra per month; please allow at least 90 days prior to your start date). Apartments have a kitchen and bathroom and all household amenities are provided for you. You only need to bring a towel and personal items.

Verona: Accommodation in Verona is in a single room in a shared apartment with other students or the landlord. Apartments have a kitchen and bathroom (bed sheets and towels are provided). Shared rooms are available upon request for a lower cost. Though included in our program fee, ***payment for all accommodation in Verona must be paid to the language school upon arrival.***

Sorrento: Accommodation in Sorrento is in a single room in a Bed & Breakfast. Double rooms can be arranged for students traveling together (when available).

Siena: Accommodation in Siena is provided in single rooms in a shared apartment with other students from the language school.

What to Expect from Accommodations in Italy

Accommodations are minimal and do not have all the many creature comforts you may have at home. As each place is different in some way or another, below is a list of general information describing some of what you can expect of the accommodation:
  • some have balconies, some do not
  • some have mirrors, some do not
  • some have laundry access, some do not
  • some rooms are large, some are small
  • most kitchens have amenities needed, some have microwave instead of oven (but have a stove top)
  • some are walking distance to your program location, many will need to take a bus or other form of public transport, do not expect to be in the center of town
  • air conditioning is virtually non-existent in residential buildings, again do not expect it
  • accommodation is for the participant only and it is not possible to have friends, family or others stay with you unless you have received express written permission from Global Experiences and the landlord of the accommodations
  • entertaining guests in the accommodations is not permitted
  • some are very old with a lot of character, some are newer
  • in most cases, you will only need bring a towel as other ammenities should be provided
  • the apartments are NOT considered HOTELS, there is no cleaning service provided
  • you must bring/purchase any extra supplies that you may need/want, including hairdryer, radio, cd player, etc.
  • food, toilet paper, laundry detergent, soap, towels, etc. are not supplied for you
  • house rules and expectations should be set with each other as roommates upon arrival (ie. washing dishes, visitors throughout day, tv, organization/cleaning ie. Common area: kitchen, bathroom(s), tv room, etc.
  • though you may certainly ask for recommendations or directions, a tour guide is not on hand to direct you during your stay
  • be independent, have fun and walk the city, try to find things on your own! That is part of the whole experience of GOING ABROAD!
  • the vast majority of accommodations are not situated in the center of town
  • our staff is available at any time to answer any questions and help you out with any problem or concern with either language, living or personal! Feel free to inquire about anything during your stay.
Each participant will have one week to express any concerns regarding accommodations and to ask for a change. After the first week, participants will not have opportunity to make any changes except in extreme circumstances.

Please email us should you have any questions regarding accommodation in Italy.
